How far in advance do we need to book your services?
Most of our couples book somewhere with 6-9 months from their wedding day. However, if your wedding falls in our busy season (June-October), then we’d recommend booking out 9-12 months, or as soon as possible. If you get engaged in July and want to be wed in October, reach out anyway! We may still have availability.
What’s the booking process?
If you’re here, then you’ve already taken to first step toward booking… inquiring with us! At this point, you may schedule a real phone call if desired to go over specifics for a custom package, or you may be ready to go with any of our standard coverage offers.
Hit us up letting us know you’d like to see a proposal, and we’ll send that along. In that proposal, you’ll be able to choose the coverage you’d like as well as any other add-ons, hit submit, and then be taken to your contract and retainer invoice to complete electronically. At that point, you’re an official Honey couple!
What’s required to book your team for our wedding day?
All we need is a signed contract and the completion of a $1500 retainer payment. The remaining balance will be due a month from your wedding date. At the time of booking, you can set up autopay for that final payment, or you’ll automatically be sent that separate invoice at that time.
What packages do you offer, and what is included in each package?
Instead of pre-created packages, our process is more customized to meet your specific needs. Our base pricing is determined by the amount of hours you’d like covered on your wedding day, and whether you’d like the Queen Bees or Honey Bees to capture the day (for more info on the difference, scroll down to the Associate Photographers section below).
Included with any coverage are 2 lead photographers, a wedding day guide, hands-on assistance with timeline creation, your downloadable online gallery full of edited and high-resolution images, as well as print and usage rights to those digital downloads.
We also offer engagement sessions, rehearsal dinner coverage, film photography, and custom-designed, luxury wedding albums for yourselves and/or family members.
What’s the most commonly booked package?
Our most commonly created package is 8 hours of coverage with an engagement session. Eight hours is the typical time needed to cover the tail end of getting ready through entirety of the dance floor activities. It gives the perfect breathing room to ensure our clients aren’t running around from moment to moment without time to simply enjoy the day.
How do I know how many hours of coverage to book?
We get this question frequently, because yeah… it’s hard to know how much coverage you’ll need until you’re in the nitty-gritty of creating the timeline! If you’re unsure at the time of booking, we recommend simply booking the baseline of 7 hours to make sure we’re secured for your day.
Since we don’t take on other jobs on wedding days, you can always add on hours during the timeline creation process if we see that it’s not plausible to capture everything you’d like.
Can we customize a package to fit our specific needs and budget?
We can work with certain budgets, within reason. There have been occasions where we can create a custom experience that meets your budget needs while also allowing us to do our jobs properly.
Because of the nature of how we approach the day, we no longer allow for single photography coverage, but we have created timelines where the coverage is more limited than 7 hours, depending on the details of the wedding.
At the end of the day, it’s worth asking and providing details so we can consider what could be done!
Do you also offer videography?
We don’t offer videography through Honey at this time, but we do have solid recommendations for videography teams that we work with often, and we’re more than happy you those contacts once you’ve booked.
Do you also cover engagement sessions and rehearsal dinners?
Hell yeah we do. We offer a mini engagement session (30 minutes and great if you just need that save the date photo), as well as the full monty, double location, 1.5 hours engagement session that includes hair, makeup, and a stylist to help you plan, purchase, and style your looks.
For rehearsal dinners, our minimum is 2 hours and we only require 1 photographer for that job.
Are there any additional fees we should be aware of (travel, overtime, prints, albums)?
There are no secret, hidden fees associated with wedding day coverage in San Diego or Temecula Valley county.
For weddings outside San Diego County, we do require a $75 travel fee for Orange County, and a $200 fee for Los Angeles County.
If you are planning a wedding further than LA, we do require that the client covers means of travel (train or plane) for 2 photographers, a 2 night stay local to the wedding venue (the night before and the night of), either a rental car or covering of Uber trips, as well as an incidentals fee of $200. Typically we book all of the above, with your approval, and then invoice you for the costs.
We don’t work overtime, but if we are approaching the end of our booked coverage and see that the wedding is behind schedule, we’ll approach you and ask if you’d like us to stay for additional time at the standard hourly rate. If that’s what you’d like, we’ll invoice you post-wedding day.
Albums or prints will have a sales tax attached to the final price.
What does the final delivery look like and how long before we receive our final gallery?
Within a month of your wedding date, your final gallery will be delivered via pretty email with a link to your online gallery. In it, your images will be organized in sequential order according to the day’s events. Makes it so easy for loved ones to find the portraits that they want to download!
Anyone with that link will have the same download and printing rights as you do. You may print images anywhere you’d like, but the gallery does have a store within for ordering products through a professional lab. It’s highly recommended that you use the gallery store for printing anything larger than a 5x7. Trust me… you’ll see the difference between a professional lab and CVS!
How many images do you typically deliver?
Typically we deliver anywhere from 75-100 images per hour of coverage. We don’t keep any good photos or moments to ourselves. You’re getting all the good stuff! The higher end accounts for weddings with a lot more personalized details and decor, or unique/religious/cultural traditions added into the day.
TL;DR More events/decor = more things we capture.
Will we receive high-resolution digital copies of all the edited photos?
You bet! You’ll be able to order crisp prints and massive canvases with these files.
We cull through and select the best of the best and hand-edit each image. Our editing includes color correction, cropping and straightening, contrast adjustments, and the secret sauce that makes every image match our Honey style seen on our website. Retouching of images is offered at an additional fee of $60/minute.
Do you offer additional services such as photo albums, prints, or custom framing options? If so, what is the process for ordering and pricing?
We do offer custom-designed albums by yours truly of various sizes and various covers, from leather to linen options. We even offer duplicate albums for loved ones at a reduced price. You can order any albums at the time of booking, during the planning process, or even later on your anniversary date. Anytime you want!
Upon delivery of your wedding gallery, we spend the next few weeks designing for you. We choose the images that best tell the story of your day, and then send you a link for cloud proofing where you can request changes like swapping images, adding images, or even adding spreads at an additional cost. You get 2 rounds of revisions before choosing your cover and sending it to print.
The lab takes 7-14 business days to process your album. They send it to us, we check to ensure it’s PERFECT, and then send it your way!

What’s the difference between booking The Queen Bees vs The Honey Bees?
When booking The Queen Bees, you’ll be working with Alyss and Cate as a team of 2 lead photographers, bringing our unique energy, approach, and style that comes naturally after having worked weddings together for 6 years… or what feels like forever.
Should The Queen Bees be unavailable or outside your budget, we have our trained, highly qualified team of lead associates, The Honey Bees, ready to love on you and take gorgeous photos on your wedding day. You still receive 2 photographers with associate coverage, and that second photographer will be assigned closer to the wedding date as opposed to during your booking.
Do we still get the signature Honey Photographs experience and editing style?
Absolutely! When you book an associate, your experience pre- and post-weddings are the same with every Honey couple. You’ll still get access to all of Honey’s wedding day prep information, and questionnaires via Alyss with your Honey Bee photographer included in all communication should you have specific details or concerns you’d like to express to your photographer.
Post-wedding day, your associate photographer will deliver your images to the Honey Photographs studio where Alyss herself safely backs up the files in multiple places, processes them with the signature Honey editing style you see on our website, and delivers your gallery within the promised, standard Honey Photographs timeline.
Who will be our photographer if we book The Honey Bees?
After your initial call with Alyss, a photographer is chosen for you based on your needs, personality, and venue. We aren’t out here hiring random strangers to show up on your wedding day. Your lead photographer will be either Salomé, Christine, or Miranda.
Each of our amazing photographers has a tight-knit, loved pool of photographers who they have built close relationships with while photographing weddings together over the years. As we get closer to your wedding date, your lead photographer will book a trusted, experienced second photographer to join them in capturing your day.
